Sold

A handsome 1950s Movado Calendomatic in a steel 35mm Borgel case with a beautifully aged dial with all of its original lume pips, alpha hands, applied quarter hour arabic indices and a seldom seen Italian day and month wheels.

As vintage Movado continues to attract more and more collectors and enthusiasts for its value for style combined with its rich history of quality watchmaking, this example provides a great gateway to the brand without breaking the bank. Notably, its case is made by the famed house of Francois Borgel, who also made cases for Patek Philippe at the time. The manufacturer was known for its dust and waterproof screwdown variations of which we have here.

This watch is running well and keeping accurate time. I believe the crown is period accurate but not original. The seconds hand has been respectfully relumed. The case remains unpolished with bevels still intact on the lugs and brushing clear on the case sides.
