1950's Boucheron Reflet "Trapezoidal"

This is a rare 1950’s Boucheron Reflet with a brushed Roman Numeral Dial in a trapezoidal 18K yellow gold case powered by a manually wound manufacturer movement.

Boucheron may need an introduction to most people outside of France but to those in the know, the Parisian maison has been producing fine watches and jewelry for over 165 years. While they have remained largely in the shadow of their contemporary, Cartier, the house demands just as much reverence and justifiably so as watches like the Reflet for sale here have a nearly 70 year history under its belt. In 1944, Boucheron patented the now universally known strap locking mechanism seen here on this Reflet example from the 1960s.

A Reflet by Boucheron from this era is hard to come by. But a Reflet with this case and dial variation ups the anti ten fold. Differentiating itself from the more standard case design many collectors are familiar with, this iteration of Reflet sports a geometric mirror finished case with pronounced angles and brushing on its flanks and hand painted Roman numeral indices and text upon its dial.

Measuring 35x20mm and considered full sized, this watch is perfect for any wrist circumference. Worn with integrity, this example displays its nearly 70 year age with grace.

The Details:

Case is strong even with evidence of polishing in the past. Dial has has light wear but no abrasion of corrosion. Very light hand drag is perceivable in certain light. Hand applied indices have started to fade equally. Hand wound movement is keeping great time. Will fit a 7 inch wrist.
